Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey from the town of Mutare, which is the closest major city to Mtarazi Falls. Head northeast on the A5 highway towards the Nyanga region. After approximately 50 kilometers, you will reach the turnoff to Mtarazi Falls. Follow the signs to Mtarazi Falls Trail. The last stretch is a gravel road, so be cautious of any potholes. Parking is available at the viewpoint area.
Public Transportation
To reach Mtarazi Falls using public transportation, take a bus from Mutare to Nyanga, which is a common route. Once you arrive in Nyanga, you can hire a local taxi or use a shared taxi to reach the Mtarazi Falls Trail entrance. The taxi ride from Nyanga to the falls will take approximately 30 minutes. Be prepared to negotiate the fare, which can vary; expect to pay around $10-$15 USD for the trip.
Walking
Once you arrive at the Mtarazi Falls Trailhead, you will need to walk approximately 1 kilometer to reach the viewpoint. The trail is well-marked, but be sure to wear comfortable shoes as the terrain can be uneven. Allow yourself at least 30 minutes to enjoy the scenic views along the way.
