What to expect
We will start our walk at the Osu Castle, listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. It was originally built by the Swedes for trade in timber and gold, but later used in the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
We will walk west along 28th February Road until we reach the Black Star Square, also known as Independence Square, bordered by the Accra Sports Stadium and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.
Stopover at Ghana’s biggest craft market, where you will have an opportunity to use your bargaining skills to shop from an open-air market for artefacts from Ghana and the rest of Africa.
Visit the (the final resting place of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President). The Mausoleum is surrounded by water which is a symbol of life. Its presence conveys a sense of immortality for the name Nkrumah. It shows that even in death he lives on in the hearts and minds of generations here and generations yet to come.
Supreme Court of Ghana
Continuing our walk down the High Street, by the Supreme Court's Monument and Holy Trinity Cathedral. Take a break at the Osekan Restaurant, overlooking the Gulf of Guinea.
James Town Lighthouse
Continue to the fishing village of James Town, which happens to be one of the oldest settlements full of beautifully disheveled colonial buildings, clapboard houses and corrugated iron shacks – but it remains one of the most vibrant districts. End the day with a walk through old Accra, dotted with historical sites, including forts, a harbor and a lighthouse.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
