What to expect
Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park
Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park was one of the largest slave markets for gathering people to sell into slavery during the infamous trans-Atlantic slave trade. It is especially worth seeing as a prelude to viewing Cape Coast slave castle since you will be following the route taken by the ancestors of many African Americans...Assin Manso served as the place where slaves had their last bath on their journey. It also has the site where the returned remains of 2 diasporas (Lady Crystal from Jamaica and Carson from New York) were re-buried.
The former slave castle at Cape Coast built in 1555 is a UNESCO World Heritage site commemorating a sad history inflicted on Africa...you will be exposed to the activities of the slave trade era and the effects it had on our culture, nations, and humanity as a whole. Those of the African Diaspora may request a 'Door of Return' ceremony (extra fee).
Visit Kakum National Park to enjoy West Africa's longest rainforest canopy walkway. The prominent landscape of the park is tropical forest accounting for 90% of the park landscape. It is one of three places in Africa that features a canopy walk through the trees. It covers a distance of 1,150 feet (350 m) while connecting through seven different trees.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
