What to expect
The drive to the Godafoss waterfall takes about 35 minutes and it requires 5 minutes very easy hike from the parking lot. There is a small food and souvenir shop nearby. The toilet is inside the shop.
Husavik
The drive to this charming little town takes about 40 minutes. It is also known as the capital of whale watching and is famous from the film "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga" with Will Ferrell. We will spend about 20-30 minutes there.
Tjornes Peninsula
It is about 15 minutes drive from the city of Husavik. Is a small peninsula in the north of Iceland. Tjornes is known for its impressive geology and vibrant bird life. It is possible to see puffins from mid June to early September.
Asbyrgi
Huge and impressive horse hoof shaped canyon. This site is about 35 minutes drive from the previous location. It is about 3.5 kilometres (2.2 miles) long and 1.1 kilometres (0.7 miles) wide. The elevation is about 100 metres (328 feet). There is a small lake called Botnstjörn that we can walk to. There is also a small petrol station where we can get some refreshments and use the toilet. We will spend about 40 minutes here.
The 'echo rocks' are about a 20 minute drive from the Asbyrgi canyon. They are a collection of basalt columns arranged in all directions to create unique formations and arched caves known to create eerie echoes and reverberations.
The most powerful waterfall in Europe. Travel time by bus to this place is approximately 20minutes. It requires a moderate hike of about 10 minutes each way. This location is not wheelchair accessible. On the way back you can see the Selfoss waterfall. Toilets are available on site.
Krafla Lava Fields
It is a volcanic crater filled with beautiful aqua blue water formed in the 18th century during a powerful eruption in this region. We can also see the nearby geothermal power plant and craters from the last eruption which started in 1975. We spend about 25 minutes here.
Often compared to Yellowstone by our guests. A place where groundwater meets hot lava and boiling hot water comes to the surface. You can see bubbling pots and seam fumaroles. There are also beautiful colors of different minerals on the ground. Travel time is about 15 minutes and we spend about 25 minutes here. There is a strong smell of rotten eggs in this place.
The drive to Lake Myvatn takes about 10 minutes. The rest of the time will be spent enjoying the lake view and visiting the best attractions in the area.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
