Pick up at your location between 5.00-5.30 pm and go to Wat Umong. Wat Umong is unique in that the resident monks live in a very natural setting, and occasionally feed the deer that live in the area. It also is possible to practice meditation at Wat Umong and to learn from the monks. Built in 1296 by King Meng Rai, it is situated in a rustic forest setting on Suthep Road and was renovated during the reign of King Keu Na. This old temple established in 1296 during the reign of King Mengrai is now widely known as a meditation center devout Buddhists from around the world visit to practice amid its peaceful atmosphere and minimalism structures. Around the area you also find numerous historical artifacts and architectures, such as Asok Pillar, which is devoted to an Indian King Asok Maharaja who was a devout Buddhist, and U-Mong, an ancient tunnel-like architecture built to create a near-silent ambience for better meditation practice.

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is located in Tambon Suthep, Amphoe Mueang, Chiang Mai Province. Doi Suthep Hill is 11 kilometers away from the center of Chiang Mai. If you travel by car, take the Huai Kaew-Chiang Mai University-Chiang Mai Zoo road and you will see the way to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep signposted.
