What to expect
Ronda
This excursion has been designed for travelers to discover Ronda in a relaxed way by the hand of an official natural guide from Ronda who has extensive experience as a guide. With the van we will go to two viewpoints from where the views are great. Then we will walk on foot through all the points described below We will visit the places of greatest interest and we will also walk through other places that not all tourists arrive. We want travelers who choose us to feel rondeños for a few hours.
After picking up from your accommodation we move to Ronda through a scenic road. The first stop will be at a viewpoint from where we can enjoy a unique view of Ronda. The New Bridge is impressive from this viewpoint. After taking the photo we will have a coffee in a very special place
Statues representing Orson Welles and Ernest Hemingway are located in these gardens. Right at the beginning of the Paseo de los Toreros where the two most famous bullfighting dynasties of Ronda are represented: Los Romero and Los Ordoñez From the viewpoint located at the bottom of these gardens we will see the strategic location of Ronda and it will be easy to understand why the old part of the city has 2,500 years of history
Plaza de Toros de Ronda
It is the oldest bullring in Spain. It was inaugurated in 1785 and since then it belongs to the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda, a brotherhood of knights created in 1572 by order of King Felipe II. We will visit the ring, the area enabled for bulls when there are bullfights and the bullfighting museum. The visit to this place allows us to know 5 centuries of the history of Ronda, which have been the key to the creation of modern bullfighting. We will also know how a bullfight develops and what is the current situation of the "national holiday"
We begin our guided tour of Ronda by visiting its most important park, the Alameda del Tajo. On the central promenade are the statues of Pedro Romero and the Lady Goyesca, the highest representatives of the bullfighting tradition of Ronda. From the Mirador de los Reyes Católicos we will look out over the Tajo de Ronda to contemplate the beauty of the Sierra de Grazalema and the Serranía de Ronda
Arco de Felipe V
After the construction of the Old Bridge, it became the main access to Ronda and the connection with the Iglesia de Padre Jesús. After crossing this arch we can take one of the most curious photos of the day
St. Sebastian Minaret
This tower was the minaret of a mosque and later a church bell tower. Today only the tower is preserved that has a really curious name that mixes its Islamic and later Catholic past
It has always been the most important place in Ronda. Here are 4 Catholic Churches (Santa María de la Encarnación, La Caridad, Santa Isabel de los Ángeles and María Auxiliadora) The Town Hall is also located in this square. The gardens have more than a century of history and were designed by Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier, a famous French landscaper who had designed the Gardens of the Maria Luisa Park in Seville.
Puente Viejo
We will cross this 16th century bridge to enter "The City", that is how the old part is known. Being on this bridge we can see the Arab Baths, the Tanneries Bridge and the Cijára Wall. The guide will tell you about the importance of this area in Muslim times
On the way to the old part we will go down through the Cuenca Gardens, which are so called because Cuenca and Ronda are sister cities thanks to the great similarity of this part of Ronda with the Hanging Houses of Cuenca. Strolling through these gardens we will have unique views of the New Bridge and the Old Bridge. When we reach the Casa del Rey Moro, the guide will tell you the story of La Mina, a staircase built in Arab times that goes down from the gardens of the house to the bottom of the Guadalevín River gorge.
Mirador de Aldehuela
Here the views are spectacular. We will contemplate the Old Bridge (16th century), the Cuenca Gardens, the hanging houses of Ronda and the Casa del Rey Moro. From this viewpoint you can also see the Sierra de las Nieves National Park
This mansion from the early 20th century belonged to the Gómez-Granadino family. Inside, the modernist style is combined with details of traditional Andalusian decoration. Its gardens invite you to contemplate the beauty of the landscape and enjoy the tranquility of Ronda.
Its 100 meters high were an engineering prodigy in the 18th century and still today it is the main link between the modern part and the old town of Ronda.
Plaza de Espana
At this point the guided tour ends. From this moment they have free time for lunch and / or walking on their own. After lunch we will return to your accommodation on the Costa del Sol
Palacio de Salvatierra
It is the most beautiful facade in Ronda. This palace belongs to the same family since it was built, after the Christian conquest of Ronda, until today.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
