Your adventure begins bright and early, with pickup from your hotel or accommodation in Cusco between 4:00 am and 4:30 am. The 2.5-hour drive to Mollepata, a charming Andean village nestled in the mountains, offers a chance to catch some extra sleep or enjoy the stunning sunrise views. As we ascend through the Andes, you will see the scenery transform. Mornings in the region are chilly, so we recommend dressing in layers for comfort.

Once we arrive in Mollepata, we will stop at a cozy local restaurant for a light breakfast and a warm cup of tea or coffee. This will give you the energy you need before the hike. After breakfast, we will drive another hour to Soraypampa, the starting point of our hike. Here, your guide will provide essential tips and safety instructions for the trek. Everyone is encouraged to walk at their own pace to fully enjoy the breathtaking surroundings. The hike is moderate in difficulty, with uneven terrain, but it’s suitable for all ages. If you feel it may be too challenging, horseback rentals are available directly from the local community.

The hike takes about 1.5 hours, and the reward is worth every step: the vibrant turquoise waters of Laguna Humantay, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and rich Andean biodiversity.
