The house was discovered in the 19th century by following the descriptions in the reported visions of Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774–1824), a Roman Catholic nun and visionary, which were published as a book by Clemens Brentano after her death. While the Catholic Church has never pronounced in favor or against the authenticity of the house, the site has nevertheless received a steady flow of pilgrimage since its discovery. It is also an interesting visit site for Turkish tourists as in Islam there is big respect to Mother Mary.

[Optional, regarding to your time and request] A pretty old Orthodox village located on the top of a mountain, anyone will enjoy the impressive wine yards' and peach trees' views on his way. Today the village is a perfect synthesis of Turk-Greek culture. All the narrow streets of the village belong to the women, selling handcrafts of all kinds, olive oil and fruit wines.

[Optional, regarding to your time and request] Ephesus Archaeological Museum houses the findings of Ephesus. Its best-known exhibit is the ancient statue of the Greek Goddess Artemis retrieved from the temple of the goddess in Ephesus.
