Our guide Franklin was very good but the logistics of the tour were very poor - lots of waiting time, with the highlight being the 3h idle time between the machu picchu and the train back. We also had to get an uber when going back to our hotel in cusco as our driver (which was supposed to be a "private transfer”) insisted on waiting on another passenger. We waited for almost 30 min and at that point we decided to get an uber as he still didn’t want to drive us without the other passenger (who likely just left and got his own uber…)

Everything went as described. I was picked up from my accommodations slightly before the scheduled time and driven to the train station, where I waited about 20 minutes before boarding. The train ride lasts about 3 hours, so bring your own drinks and snacks, though they are also available for purchase on board. At Machu Picchu Pueblo, the tour guide met me, took me to the bus line, and provided a 2+ hour tour of the sanctuary. He ensured I boarded the train back on time and confirmed my departure. The tour company then picked me up at the station and drove me back to the hotel. Overall, the experience matched the value of what I paid.

I booked a trip to Machu Picchu with my 10-year-old daughter, choosing the Vista Dome train for its top-tier experience and Circuit 2 for the best route. Despite knowing we were traveling with my brother's family, the agency informed us a day later that Circuit 2 was unavailable and we’d be on Circuit 3. Upon arrival in Cusco, we were split onto different trains, and my return trip was downgraded to the Expedition train. To top it off, my daughter and I were seated 10 rows apart on the train on our way back at night. When I sought help from the agency, they told me to talk to the train company, which also failed to assist. I had to rely on a kind passenger to swap seats with me. It’s outrageous that the agency completely forgot about us, leaving us in such a dire situation which sour my child’s experience to such a great place.

Our recent journey was truly unforgettable and worth every penny spent. From the breathtaking landscapes to the immersive experiences, every moment was a treasure. Although we faced a delay on the return train, it didn’t diminish our enthusiasm. In hindsight, we realized there was an alternative offered by Peru Rail for a luxurious train ride that could have elevated our experience even further. If Viator had made that option available, we would have jumped at the chance to indulge in such a fancy adventure. Nonetheless, the overall experience was remarkable, and we left with memories that will last a lifetime.

Due to high demand and limited entrances to the citadel, VIPAC will issue your admission ticket on trail 2 as a priority. If it is not available, trail 3 or 1 will be provided, after prior coordination with the passenger before issuance.
For weather reasons, from January to March, all excursions departs on bimodal service (Bus from Cusco to Ollantaytambo & train from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu.
Machu Picchu Admission ticket and train tickets are included in this tour. Our sales team will send them 72 hour after paid.
Machu Picchu has implemented new visitor circuits, with three main routes with specific differences to distribute passengers in various areas. These changes are intended to improve the visitor experience and preserve the integrity of the archaeological site. The circuit with route 2 will be given as priority and if it is not available, the options of taking circuit 3B or circuit 1B will be informed so that you can confirm your decision before the tickets are issued.
Machu Picchu has two seasons. Rainy season from December to March. Dry season, the rest of the year.
MANDATORY: The Authority of Machu Picchu asks full name, passport number, date of birth, nationality details to issue the admission ticket.
Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health
One day before the company's staff will contact the travelers to send the pick-up time through Viator or Tripadvisor experiences extranet.
Remember that, if you are a Peruvian national, you must have a valid National Identity Document (DNI) in order to be able to issue your ticket to Machu Picchu. In addition, this document must be sent through the corresponding platform and presented on the day of the visit.
