The Selarón Stairway is an architectural work located between the neighborhoods of Santa Teresa and Lapa, decorated by the Chilean artist Jorge Selarón, rooted in Brazil for a long time, with tiles from the four corners of the planet, donated by tourists visiting Rio. Selaron declared that his work is a tribute to the Brazilian people.
The Authentic and Bohemian Santa Teresa district, known as the artistic heart of Rio, was once home to the city’s rich and famous. When Copacabana was uninhabitable, back in the 19th century, the wealthy elite of Rio de Janeiro chose Santa Tereza hill due to its proximity to the city center, its magnificent views, and the fresher cooler air. Santa Teresa’s cobbled streets are lined with old mansions (some are renovated) and today function as artists’ studios, art craft stores, restaurants, and guest houses. The visit will last approx. 50 minutes. After Santa Tereza, the Tour will continue to one of the best and most upscale Barbecue Places in Brazil, FOGO DE CHÃO, All you can eat Authentic Brazilian Rodízio Style Barbecue, located in Botafogo with gorgeous views of the Guanabara Bay.
