The Greek Theatre, also known as the Ancient Theatre, probably dates back to the 3rd century BC, during the reign of Hiero II. The first historical traces of Isola Bella date back to 1806, when Ferdinand I of Bourbon, King of the Two Sicilies, donated it to the Municipality of Taormina.
