    I think it's an amazing tour, especially for summer- if you want to see the countryside of Japan, but the temperature is over 30°C (86°F) - you go around in a well conditioned car. The views from the car were absolutely mesmerising, at every stop my breath was just taken away at how beautiful all the places were. The whole tour you are driven around by a tour guide (who was also once a taxi driver, so you know he is a professional), who was really friendly and chatty, I've learned SO MUCH about the places that we visited and passed by but also about the japanese people and how it is to live in Tokyo - tour guide is also fluent in english, so the talk is easy to maintain. We visited a lot of places that I would have never find on my own and which are hard to get to by foot. I've eaten a really tasty lunch made in a local restaurant/bar, I've tasted an original made on the spot soy milk (it's so different from the boxed one!) and also soju (which was also made on the spot, we could see the brewery through a glass window). I can't truly describe the beauty of Okutama, you just have to see it for yourself! I really really recommend this tour, the pick up & drop off option is so convenient, the tour guide is really nice, all the attractions are beautiful and I think the price is really low for all the things that are provided!

    Definitely one of the best trips I have ever been on. We saw so much of the Japan countryside. Ayumi is a brilliant tour guide; knowledgeable, kind, and is probably the best driver I've ever ridden with in Japan. Despite the holiday festivals blocking roads, he still managed to get us home in a timely manner. FYI, the caves are cold, bring a hoodie. Bring a protein bar, cash, and nonslip comfy shoes!

    They cancelled without any explanation the day before. Luckily I was able to find another tour to join in Hakone at the last minute. It would have been nice to at least have some sort of explanation.

    Ayomo, our host, gave my family & other guests 100% into making sure that our tour to Okutama was varied & interesting. There were so many different highlights to this tour it’s difficult to choose just one so I’ll say a few. Safe & friendly host/driver, small group of just 6 guests, a day in nature surrounded by mountains & fresh air, limestone caves (wear sports shoes, there’s a lot of exploring & steps), the steep rail trip up the mountain to the traditional house, exploring waterfalls, & the end where Ayomo took us to an onsen (included in the price)! We loved this tour & highly recommend it. It’s a long day but worth seeing the beauty just out from Tokyo city. Thank you for a fantastic day Ayomo!

    Hatonosu Valley

    Hatonosu Valley

    At the beginning of your trip, you can feel the breath of nature in Okutama Town. The first part of the trip will be crossing the Hatonosu Valley. At Unzen Bridge, you can enjoy the magnificent scenery unique to Okutama. The fresh air blowing down from the mountains into the valley will quickly blow away the early morning sleepiness and the stale air that has accumulated in the car for a long time.

    Nippara Limestone Caves

    Nippara Limestone Caves

    At first destination, you will do your morning exercise. Nippara Cave is one of the limestone caves that represent of Kanto region. There are lights up in some places, creating a fantastic scenery. As you walk through about 1km long cave, you can feel the age through the stalactites that were created over many thousands of years.

    Okutama

    Next we will show you the country road that leads to the lake of Okutama. Along the way, you can experience suspension bridges, you can see unique local scenery, and you'll know how people live in the countryside of Tokyo. Also, you can see some abandon ruins along the way. You can learn that even the beautiful Okutama town is in danger of depopulation in the future.

    Lake Okutama

    The tour will take you around the lake. Lake Okutama is one of representative lake in Japan. You can enjoy the magnificent scenery of each season right in front of your eyes.

    Tsukiyomi 1st Parking

    After the drive around of lakeside, we will visit a point in the top of the mountain where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the lake and mountains. We will have a simple picnic here. We will having lunch with a kamameshi lunch box made with locally grown vegetables, and say goodbye to Okutama town.

    Hinohara-mura

    After lunch, we will rest in the car while moving. We will enter Hinohara Village while conserving our stamina for afternoon activities. Hinohara Village is the only village in Tokyo that is not well known even among Tokyo residents. Along with Okutama Town, it is the village most surrounded by nature in Tokyo. This village's cypress has become a brand.

    Kyu Kobayashike Jutaku

    Here we will visit traditional Japanese house. You can learn about how people in the past lived in the harsh environment. I use the mountain climbing monorail to get home. You can enjoy the spectacular view of climbing up a steep slope of 43 degrees.

    Kanoto Rock

    Here we will walk cross the valley. Kanoto Rocks are two large rocks with historical surface. We will walk along the side of the river that flows vigorously between the rocks. The mysterious scenery and thrilling roads will make you forget that you are in Tokyo.

    Hossawa Falls

    Hossawa Falls

    Finale, we will go to see a waterfall. Hossawa Falls is one of Japanese representative waterfalls. It is a 60m long waterfall divided into 4 steps. The area around the basin of waterfall is surrounded by an abundance of negative ions. In winter, you can see the "Hyobaku" where the entire waterfall freezes over.

    At the end of your trip, we plan to take a bath in a hot spring. The hot springs drawn from 1,500 meters underground have extremely high alkalinity, and are sure to please your skin. After the hot spring, we plan to have dinner and souvenir shopping. Please feel free to spend a relaxing time while enjoying the scenery surrounded by the rich nature of each season. ※Starting from November 2024, the hot spring visit has become optional. Please note that in Japan, individuals with tattoos may not be allowed to enter hot spring facilities. Additionally, if you choose to use the hot spring, please prepare your own towel in advance. If you do not have one, an additional fee for a towel will apply (300 yen).
