This is an incredible place that tourists seldom visit. But you should go. I was surprised that my guidebook bet Rick Steves did not have it. We visited it because one of my cousins had done so. You will not re great it. The monastery does not have guides, you roam on your own and discover the power that the Templar’s had. They financed many of the discoveries.

A place that is rarely mentioned when traveling to Portugal, but it is worth visiting. The city of Tomar, in which these monuments are located, is the place of origin of the Order of Christ in Portugal. The history is very interesting and the size of Cidade de Deus (Church plus convent) is monumental. Maybe the photos don't show this size!
