The view is awesome. We saw birds, gators, iguana and lots of native plants. However both my husband and I were disappointed when we paid extra for English guide at least on the bus. We were crammed in a van with AC that kept the front two passengers comfortable. No airflow. Was stifling in 80 degree weather. Also when I ordered tickets it gave me the impression a hotel pickup was possible. Didn’t happen; but a short walk to pickup spot. Polluted water. Make sure u have 5 pesos coins for toilet and paper.

Really good and trustworthy tourism agency in San Cristobal de las Casas! We booked 3 tours with the agency - to Chamula, Sumidero el Cañon and Palenque, starting to drive at 4am in the morning. All tours were really well organized, was enough time to see the locations and walk around, the tour gide/driver we had in Chamula spoke perfect English, even the other two tour guides/drivers didn't, but it was okay :) The prices at this tourism agency were much better than in other agencies. Leo (tourism agency owner) was really friendly and helpful! The meeting point to go to the tour is Al Grano Cafe (don't mix it up with El Grano Cafe) at the main square which is called Zocalo.

El tour por el cañon del sumidero es impresionante, es un recorrido de un par de horas y 40 kms en lancha, van mostrandote los atractivos que hay a lo largo del rio, las paredes del cañon pueden alcanzar una altura de 1 kilometro y puedes llegar a ver cocodrilos, monos araña y formaciones a travez de las paredes del cañon, debes llevar bloqueador y gorra o sombrero por el sol, la explicaciones del tour por el cañon son solo en español. Despues del cañon te llevan a Chiapa de corzo para que puedas comer algo y comprar algun recuerdo, los lugareños te ofrecen comida como el Cochito horneado y el Pozol (Bebida refrescante), puedes tomarte la foto en la fuente que se encuentra en el centro de la plaza, depues de esto salimos a los miradores del cañon para poder verlo desde arriba, son varios miradores y las vista desde los miradores es impresionante, las fotos no le hacen justicia, hay que estar ahi para poder disfrutarlo, es muy recomendable. En cuanto al transporte usan camionetas de pasajeros de modelo reciente con aire acondicionado, conductor muy atento, en mi caso llegue del aeropuerto al embarcadero y pude dejar mi equipaje en la camioneta con toda confianza, al teminar los recorridos me dejaron en la puerta de mi hotel. La agencia (Diamart) es muy recomendable y Leopoldo que fue quien me atendio es una persona muy paciente, atenta y servicial que en todo momento estuvo al pendiente de mis necesidades desde antes de iniciar mi viaje y durante toda mi estadia en Chiapas.
