    I can thoroughly recommend using PGW if you wish to walk in the beautiful Douro Valley, staying in delightful accommodation and using GPS ( or well-explained map) to guide you along the route amongst the vineyards. The luggage transfer worked seemlessly and all communication was swiftly answered. Some of the ascents would be rather challenging in the hottest weather, but the scenery is breathtaking and the tranquility amongst the vineyards on the hills is so refreshing.

    We are in our 70's and were a bit concerned that around 75 km and big elevation gains over 5 days would be too much. But we found the that the two circular walks where you can cheat a bit with return taxi's were a ideal way of resting between the longer walks between accommodations. PGW's provision of a GPS with pre programmed routes is a great idea but I would recommend also taking a large scale map in addition to the GPS which can be temperamental at times. If you have time I would definitely recomend booking a second night at Casal de Loivos the last stop on your walk before retuning to Pinhao. It is a gorgeous way to reward yourself with a relaxing non walking day at the end of your walk and views as always are spectacular.

    We had a wonderful PGW experience walking the Heart and Soul of the Douro Valley. The preparation work by the company was detailed and very easy to follow. Using the app to walk was essential. Hotels were terrific. Transportation support from beginning to end was timely and very comfortable. This is the third time we have traveled with PGW and we recommend them highly.

    As others have said, PGW provided a stress free, high quality, hiking experience. Their pre-trip Zoom meeting was the tip off. They answered our questions and insured we were comfortable with their materials even before we left the US. The app and guide book were awesome. Like Google Maps, the GPS guidance nailed every turn, including getting to the start of the walk, and even turns deep into the vineyards. As just one of many examples of their thoughtfulness, PGW even included a spare external, back up battery for my phone! They easily accommodated a needed change in our itinerary, and helped with advice and arrangements. We've already highly recommended them to friends planning to go to Portugal. If we go to Portugal again we wouldn't hesitate to use PGW.
