Quinta da Regaleira

And, what is the Quinta da Regaleira? They are gardens and a palace that we find in the heart of Sintra Park. It was built in the 20th century with a clear slogan: that the palace should have all the artistic movements of the moment. To do this, Luigi Manini, the architect who was in charge of the work, traveled throughout Europe and on his return brought back the Manueline, Neo-Gothic and mythological ideas that he had found. As we will see, mysteries were also built here, one of the most unique is the so-called Initiatic Well of Sintra, a well that, it is said, was used by Masons!

Sintra

We will go down to Sintra where we will have free time to eat. We will share with our guide the best ideas to eat in Sintra. Not only will he tell us the best proposals, adapted to all tastes, but he will tell us which dishes of Portuguese cuisine and the area we cannot miss!

Cascais

Cascais has always been linked to the royalty of Portugal, who spent the summer here since the 19th century, and to the most important landmarks in the country, largely due to its strategic position. Once we have arrived, we will walk through the must-see places in Cascais in one day. This typical fishing village boasts of having some of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, 19th century mansions, museums and corners in which to recreate the past of this town so closely linked to the sea.

Best tour! Guide was knowledgeable, kind & patient. Do not miss this tour. A must do tour in Lisbon. Lot of walking, so wear comfortable shoes.

Organized and our guides were amazing! They were full of information and recommendations, we never felt rushed, and they were so kind and personable. Even though it poured on us at Pena Palace, we still had a wonderful time on this tour. Best way to see all the big sites in 1 day.

My adult son and I took the Sintra Excursion. We were extremely pleased with our choice. We found both both palaces to be enchanting and just a fascinating bit different than other palaces/castles we’ve visited in Europe. There is a decent bit of uphill walking involved, but our guide, Maria, encouraged people to set their own pace and took well timed rest stops. In addition, the most strenuous part of the walk has an option to ride a bus for just $3. . Speaking of Maria, she is a very engaging guide with a great sense of humor ! She is very organized, kept everyone together, and shared loads of interesting background and info on the things we were seeing. The tour strikes a excellent balance between being a “guided” tour, yet also allowing some “free time” to explore on your own. Don’t be concerned about the group size, because they break the group down into smaller segments of 12 to 20 based on the language you speak. Each small segment has their own guide for a more personal experience. This is the tour you want to Sintra !

We had a great time even though the weather did not cooperate. Isabel was wonderful. She was full of information and has great knowledge of the history of the place as well as the country. She made the trip fun in spite of the pouring rain. She speaks well and loud enough for everyone to hear and understand. To top it all she’s funny.

The castle and the quaint town it is located in was amazing. We were able to meander around. It was an all day event and you will return tired, but please do yourselves a favor and book this trip! The area is beautiful! The only draw back was the day before the tours were rained out, so our day was double booked with lots of people. Also we got to see Casais, a beach town that was hosting the Ironman event at the time.

Pena palace was beautiful and the tour guides gave a wonderful narrative of the history surrounding it, and the Portugese Royalty that lived there.

The excursion to Sintra was great! It was perfectly timed with enough time to see Regaleira, Pena Palace and Caiscais. It is worth the money. The bus was clean and comfortable and Pedro the tour guide was absolutely fantastic! J can’t say enough about all tge information, knowledge and history I learned from Pedro on this tour. Not to mention his wonderful, friendly and personable disposition. I am so so grateful to have had the beat tour guide! Thank you, Pedro!

My cousin and I enjoyed a wonderful day trip out to Sintra with our tour guide (Alexandra) and bus driver (Lourdes). The two stops in Sintra were absolutely magical. We explored both stops at a reasonable pace, were given an appropriate level of information by our guide, and were afforded plenty of time for independent exploration. We also loved the brief stop in Cascais on the drive back to Lisbon, as we were able to quickly check out the “beach” scene and enjoy a gelato from Santana’s. This day trip was a highlight of our time in Lisbon!

Maria added great insight to the history of the tour highlights. I learned a lot while having free time to explore and take pictures. Went to Quinta da Regaleira first. Then enjoyed free time in the village of Sintra. Then we headed to Pena Palace. And then Cascais for free time. Great full day!
