More about Carmen Gonzalez

Born and raised in Guanare, Venezuela, Carmen always had a passion for languages and travel. After completing her studies in modern languages, she worked as a translator in Caracas. However, the political and economic instability in Venezuela led her and her husband, Hans, to seek a better life in Germany. They settled in Bamberg, where Hans found work as a software engineer and Carmen built a career as a freelance translator, specializing in German and Spanish. While translation is her primary source of income, Carmen has always dreamed of sharing her love for travel and her cultural heritage with a wider audience. She started her blog on Evendo as a way to connect with others, document her experiences, and inspire people to explore the world.

This Explorers Travel Highlights

  • My Travel Highlight

One of my most cherished travel experiences was spending a week with a family in a small Venezuelan village. I learned to cook traditional arepas, shared stories around the fire, and truly felt like I was part of their community. It reminded me that the most meaningful travel experiences come from human connections.

  • Favourite Destination

Italy will always hold a special place in my heart. The art, the history, the food – it's a feast for the senses. I especially loved Florence; wandering through the streets, discovering hidden trattorias, and immersing myself in the Renaissance art was simply magical.

  • Best Hotel

Capella Bangkok in Thailand. The hotel is contemporary, surrounded by lush gardens and exudes elegance. The dramatic, layered architecture ensures all 101 rooms face the water, while riverside villas and suites also include their own private pool.

  • My Adventurous Destination

Hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu was an incredible adventure. The altitude was challenging, and the terrain was rugged, but the breathtaking views and the sense of accomplishment at reaching the Lost City of the Incas made it all worthwhile.

  • My Food Destination

Rome, without a doubt! Every meal was an experience, from the simple pasta dishes to the rich and complex sauces. Exploring the local markets, tasting fresh cheeses and olives, and indulging in gelato every day – it was a food lover's paradise.
