Farewell Marrakech: A Day of Gardens and Souks

As our Moroccan adventure draws to a close, I wanted to soak in the last moments with my friends, finding a balance between the city's vibrant energy and its pockets of tranquility. Today was a day of contrasts, from the serene Cyber Park Arsat Moulay Abdesalam to the bustling souks, offering a perfect farewell to Marrakech.

Our day began with a delightful breakfast at L'Mdina Marrakech.
The atmosphere was lovely, with live music filling the air as we enjoyed traditional Moroccan pastries and mint tea. It was the perfect way to start our final day, reminiscing about the incredible experiences we’ve shared over the past nine days. I made sure to savor every bite, knowing I’d soon be back in Stuttgart, missing the exotic flavors of Marrakech. L'Mdina Marrakech definitely set a positive and relaxed tone for the day.

After breakfast, we decided to explore the Cyber Park Arsat Moulay Abdesalam. It was such a contrast to the bustling medina!
The park offered a peaceful retreat with its lush greenery, rose bushes, and tranquil walkways. I was particularly impressed by the blend of tradition and modernity, with free WiFi hotspots amidst the ornamental gardens. It felt like a true oasis in the heart of the city. We strolled through the park, enjoying the quiet atmosphere and taking photos of the beautiful scenery. It was a welcome break from the intensity of the souks. I found it fascinating that the park was initially created in the 18th century and later renovated to include modern amenities. It's a testament to Marrakech's ability to blend its rich history with contemporary life.

Next on our list was the Menara Gardens. While the gardens were more functional than aesthetically stunning, they offered a glimpse into Marrakech's agricultural history.
The large basin and the iconic pavilion were interesting to see, and we enjoyed a leisurely walk around the olive groves. The views of the Atlas Mountains in the distance were quite breathtaking. Although some reviews suggested visiting early or late to avoid the heat, we found it pleasant enough in the late morning. It was a simple, yet calming experience. I learned that the gardens were established in the 12th century and renovated in 1870, serving as a water source for the surrounding orchards and gardens. It's amazing to think about the history contained within this space.

For lunch, we ventured to Dameh, a restaurant recommended for its Mediterranean cuisine.
The restaurant had a modern Levantine vibe, and the menu featured a delightful mix of Moroccan and Mediterranean dishes. I opted for a flavorful tagine, while my friends tried the Lebanese specialties. The food was fresh and delicious, and the ambiance was both refined and inviting. It was a perfect spot to relax and refuel before our afternoon adventure. I appreciated the blend of culinary influences, reflecting Marrakech's diverse culture.

In the afternoon, we couldn't resist one last visit to the souks. The vibrant energy of the market was infectious, and I wanted to pick up a few more souvenirs before leaving. I was on the hunt for some unique textiles to incorporate into my art pieces back in Stuttgart. Of course, navigating the Souk MARKET required some skillful haggling, but it was all part of the fun.
I managed to find some beautiful hand-woven fabrics and aromatic spices to bring home. It was a sensory overload, with the sights, sounds, and smells of the market all blending together. I found myself drawn to the colorful displays of spices and the intricate patterns of the carpets. I even managed to pick up a small Berber rug as a memento of our trip.

As the sun began to set, we made our way to Kosybar Marrakech (Restaurant Bar & Spa) for a final Moroccan evening.
The rooftop terrace offered stunning views of the city, and we enjoyed delicious cocktails as we watched the sunset over the Medina. The atmosphere was relaxed and sophisticated, with a mix of locals and tourists enjoying the ambiance. It was the perfect spot to reflect on our incredible journey and say goodbye to Marrakech. I savored the moment, knowing I would cherish these memories for years to come. Kosybar was the ideal setting for a farewell toast, as we reminisced about our favorite moments from the trip.

For our final dinner, we chose Chez Brahim Restaurant, known for its traditional Moroccan cuisine.
The restaurant had a cozy and inviting atmosphere, and the menu featured a wide array of classic dishes. I opted for the tagine with chicken and olives, while my friends tried the lamb skewers and couscous. The food was delicious and authentic, and the service was warm and friendly. It was a perfect way to end our culinary journey through Marrakech. I felt a sense of contentment as I savored the rich flavors of the tagine. Chez Brahim provided a comforting and satisfying end to our day.
