Little Marrakech Strikes Again!

Today was a day of exploring the wonders just outside Taroudant, and I couldn't wait to share it all with you! From ancient kasbahs to serene oases, every moment was filled with new experiences and cultural immersion. Jan and I started the day with a sense of adventure, ready to see what hidden gems this corner of Morocco had in store. As a renewable energy consultant, I often find myself drawn to places where nature and culture intertwine, and today was a perfect example of that.

Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Snack Omar. It's a small, unassuming place, but the food was fantastic and just what we needed to fuel our explorations. I opted for a traditional Moroccan breakfast of msemen, a type of flatbread, with honey and a strong, sweet mint tea. The combination was perfect, and it gave me a much-needed energy boost for the day ahead.

After breakfast, we headed to Bab El Kasbah. This ancient gate is one of the most iconic landmarks in Taroudant. The architecture was stunning, and the history palpable. As we walked through the gate, I couldn't help but imagine all the people who had passed through it over the centuries, from traders and travelers to soldiers and scholars. The gate led us into a maze of narrow streets, each one more charming than the last. We spent some time wandering around, soaking up the atmosphere and taking photos. The vibrant colors, the sounds of the city, and the smells of spices and cooking food created a sensory overload that was both exhilarating and exhausting.

Next on our list was Dar Randigaba. This traditional house is a beautiful example of Moroccan architecture and design. As someone who appreciates craftsmanship and attention to detail, I was in awe of the intricate carvings, the colorful tiles, and the overall sense of harmony and balance. It felt like stepping back in time, and I could easily imagine living in such a place. The house also offered a glimpse into the daily life of a Moroccan family, which was fascinating and insightful.

Sometimes, the most unforgettable experiences are found not in the grand monuments, but in the quiet corners and unexpected encounters of everyday life.

For lunch, we decided to try Snack Paradise. It turned out to be a great choice. The restaurant lived up to its name, offering a wide variety of tasty snacks at affordable prices. I had a delicious chicken sandwich, while Jan opted for a traditional tagine. We both agreed that the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. It was the perfect place to take a break and recharge before continuing our explorations.

After lunch, we ventured further afield to Oasis Tiout. The drive there was an adventure in itself, as we passed through small villages and scenic landscapes. When we finally arrived at the oasis, I was blown away by its beauty. It was like stepping into another world, a lush green paradise in the middle of the arid landscape. We spent some time walking around, admiring the palm trees, the streams, and the overall sense of tranquility. It was a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and I felt a sense of peace and serenity wash over me. We even saw the Kasbah of Tiout, which has been transformed into a tourist restaurant. Apparently Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves was filmed in the palm grove in 1954.

We had dinner at Restaurant Kasbah Tiout, located in an old castle. The views from the restaurant were simply breathtaking. You have to climb a lot of stairs to get there, but it is worth it. The food was decent, and the atmosphere was magical. As the sun set over the oasis, casting a golden glow over the landscape, I felt grateful for the opportunity to experience such beauty. It was a moment I will never forget.

After dinner, we decided to check out Care Club. It was a fun way to end the day. The music was lively, the drinks were refreshing, and the atmosphere was buzzing with energy. I even tried my hand at dancing, much to the amusement of Jan and our friends. It was a lighthearted and carefree way to let loose and celebrate our adventures.

I'm particularly excited about visiting Dar al Hossoun, as I've heard it's a beautiful example of traditional Moroccan architecture. We'll also be stopping by Cooperative Amagor Argan to learn more about the production of argan oil, a staple of Moroccan cuisine and cosmetics. I'm eager to see how this cooperative supports local women and promotes sustainable development. And of course, we'll be trying out some new restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I can't wait to see what culinary delights await us!

I am excited to see what tomorrow brings, and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you. Until then, I bid you farewell and wish you happy travels!
