Today was a day of embracing nature and indulging in the simple pleasures of Moroccan cuisine. Leaving the digital world behind, I ventured into the landscapes surrounding Moulay Idriss, eager to discover the tranquility it held. It was a day to reconnect with the earth and savor the tastes of this beautiful region.

My day began with a hearty Moroccan breakfast at Haytam. The restaurant was inviting with the aroma of spices filling the air. I savored a traditional tagine, the flavors a delightful mix of savory and sweet. It was the perfect way to fuel up for a day of exploration. I made sure to try their mint tea, which rounded off the meal perfectly.

With renewed energy, I set off to Bab Rmila Natural Park. The drive itself was an adventure, the roads winding through picturesque scenery. As I approached the park, the air grew fresher, carrying the scent of pine and eucalyptus. I parked my taxi and took a deep breath, ready to immerse myself in nature's embrace. I felt a pang of regret for forgetting my sunscreen, a lesson learned for future adventures. I really need to remember to buy a travel guidebook, too!

The park was a haven of tranquility, a world away from the bustling medina. Lush greenery stretched as far as the eye could see, and the sounds of chirping birds filled the air. I followed one of the well-maintained walking trails, letting my feet guide me deeper into the park. The trails varied in terrain and length. Sunlight filtered through the trees, creating a magical play of light and shadow. I was glad to have worn my comfortable walking shoes. I even spotted a few wild creatures, including a hare and various birds.

I found a quiet spot beneath a towering pine tree and opened my travel journal. Surrounded by such serenity, it was easy to reflect on my journey so far. I wrote about the vibrant colors of the medina, the warmth of the Moroccan people, and the simple joys of traveling solo. It's moments like these that make me appreciate the freedom and flexibility of solo travel. It allows me to truly connect with a place and its people, without the distractions of coordinating with others. Though I miss Greta and Marko terribly, I know this experience will enrich my perspective and bring new stories to share with them.

After a couple of hours of hiking and journaling, my stomach began to rumble. I decided to head back towards Moulay Idriss for lunch. I chose Café Restaurant Ksar Pharaon, a charming little place with a cozy atmosphere. I opted for a traditional Moroccan salad, a colorful medley of fresh vegetables and fragrant herbs. It was light, refreshing, and bursting with flavor. The perfect midday meal.

As evening approached, I made my way to Al Andaloussiya Diyafa for dinner. The restaurant, a typical Moroccan house, offered panoramic views of Volubilis and the surrounding areas from its furnished terrace. The air-conditioned room featured a traditional Moroccan decor. I indulged in a tagine, savoring the rich flavors and spices. A complementary cold drink and tea were provided upon arrival.

Before calling it a night, I decided to check out SCORPION HOUSE. Getting there involved a climb up narrow medina streets that were more staircase than walkways. The views from the terraces were magical. The establishment is owned by Mike Richardson, who also owns Café Clock in Fez.

As I reflect on the day, I feel grateful for the opportunity to experience the natural beauty and culinary delights of Moulay Idriss. It was a day of simple pleasures, a reminder that sometimes the greatest joys in life are found in the quiet moments and the authentic flavors of a place. I'm looking forward to another day of exploration tomorrow, eager to uncover more hidden gems in this fascinating region.
