As my journey in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park nears its end, I find myself reflecting on the incredible experiences I've had. Today was about soaking in the last moments, savoring the local flavors, and finding those perfect little mementos to bring back home to Berlin. It’s hard to believe that tomorrow I’ll be packing my bags and preparing for the journey back, but today, I was determined to make the most of every single moment.

The day began with a hearty breakfast at PHONG NHA FAMILY RESTAURANT (NHÀ HÀNG GIA ĐÌNH VIỆT NAM). I opted for a traditional Vietnamese breakfast, a flavorful noodle soup that provided the perfect energy boost for the day ahead. It’s amazing how different cultures start their day; in Denmark, it was often a simple rye bread with cheese, but here, the explosion of flavors first thing in the morning is such a vibrant way to wake up.

My main focus for the day was simply to wander and absorb the atmosphere of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. The weather in November is quite pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 18°C to 27°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities. Although there's a chance of occasional rain, the skies were mostly clear today, providing excellent opportunities for photography. I spent the morning revisiting some of my favorite spots within the park, capturing the landscapes in the soft morning light. The park itself is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it's easy to see why, with its stunning karst rock formations and rich biodiversity.

For lunch, I decided to try Son Doong Restaurant, known for its local cuisine. I indulged in a delicious Bún chả dish, a Hanoian specialty of grilled pork and noodles, which was absolutely divine. The restaurant was bustling with both locals and tourists, creating a lively atmosphere. It's always a joy to experience a place where people come together to enjoy good food and company.

After lunch, I dedicated some time to shopping for souvenirs. I visited Đặc sản, cafe Hương Rừng, a local shop known for its regional specialties and coffee. I picked up some local coffee beans to bring back to Hans, knowing he’d appreciate a taste of Vietnam in his daily brew. I also found some beautiful handwoven textiles, perfect for adding a touch of Vietnamese craftsmanship to our Berlin apartment.

As the afternoon waned, I found myself drawn to the King Kong Bar Phong Nha, a popular spot for both locals and tourists. I enjoyed a refreshing local beer while chatting with fellow travelers, sharing stories and experiences from our respective journeys. The bar had a lively atmosphere, with music and laughter filling the air. It was a wonderful way to unwind and reflect on the day's adventures.

For my final dinner in Phong Nha, I chose Bamboo Chopsticks, a charming café known for its delightful dishes and commitment to reducing plastic usage. I savored a beautifully presented seafood salad, appreciating the café's efforts to promote sustainability. It’s inspiring to see businesses taking responsibility for their environmental impact, a cause that’s very close to my heart.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, it’s all about the journey home. I’ll be having breakfast at Phong Nha Vegan Restaurant before heading to the airport. I am looking forward to trying out some vegan Vietnamese cuisine before I leave. Then it's a series of flights: Dong Hoi to Hanoi, Hanoi to Berlin. While I’m eager to see Hans and share my stories, a part of me will remain here, amidst the caves and the vibrant culture of Phong Nha. I'll miss the warm smiles, the delicious food, and the stunning landscapes that have captivated me for the past two weeks.

This trip to Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park has been more than just a vacation; it's been an immersion into a world of natural beauty and cultural richness.
