Today was all about soaking in the unique atmosphere of Chefchaouen, a city that continues to surprise and enchant me. It's incredible how a single color can define a place, and the blue of Chefchaouen certainly does that, creating a sense of calm and wonder. I was excited to see what hidden corners and local experiences the day would bring.

Our morning started with a delightful breakfast at Cremeri Elmaataoui. Lena had been raving about their pastries, and she was absolutely right – the almond croissant was heavenly. The perfect way to kick off a day of exploring! After breakfast, we decided to take a leisurely stroll to Park Sidi Abdelhamid.

The park was a welcome escape from the bustling medina. It’s a little gem tucked away, offering a tranquil space with lush greenery and vibrant flora. I sat for a while, just enjoying the peace and quiet, watching locals go about their day. Sophie would have loved running around here, I made a mental note to bring her back someday. The park offers a panoramic view of Chefchaouen and its blue buildings nestled in a green plain, it's a sight to behold. It was the perfect spot to reflect on our journey so far. Next on our itinerary was the Chefchaouen Gate. As we approached, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. These gates aren't just entryways; they're portals to the city's rich history and culture. The gate itself was a beautiful blend of architecture and art, a perfect backdrop for some photos. Passing through, we were immediately enveloped in the vibrant atmosphere of the medina, filled with the sounds of artisans and the enticing aromas of Moroccan cuisine. It was like stepping into another world.

For lunch, we headed to Assaada, a restaurant recommended by a local we met earlier in the week. The food was incredible! I had a tagine with chicken and olives, and the flavors were just bursting in my mouth. Lena opted for a vegetarian couscous, which she said was equally delicious. What I appreciated most about Assaada was the friendly service and the cozy atmosphere. It felt like a truly authentic Moroccan dining experience.

After lunch, we dedicated some time to shopping. I was on the hunt for a unique souvenir to bring back to Heidelberg. We stumbled upon a Chefchaouen copper and lamps shop. The shop was filled with an array of handcrafted copper items, from intricately designed lamps to exquisite decorative pieces. I was mesmerized by the craftsmanship. Each item seemed to tell a story, reflecting the rich heritage of the region. After much deliberation, I finally chose a beautiful copper lamp with delicate perforated patterns. I think Lena will love it! Talking to the shopkeepers was an experience in itself; they were eager to share the history and techniques behind their crafts. It was more than just a shopping trip; it was an immersion into the local culture.

As the day drew to a close, we made our way to BILMOS for dinner. The restaurant had a cozy and trendy vibe, and the menu offered a mix of Moroccan and Italian dishes. I decided to try their Moroccan-Italian fusion dish, and it was surprisingly good. Lena, ever the health-conscious one, was happy to find plenty of vegetarian and vegan options.

Tomorrow, we plan to explore the ancient Medina and Bab Chaouen. I’m particularly excited to wander through the old city and see more of the historical architecture. We also plan to visit Restaurant Terrasse Djebli for drinks. I’ve heard they have a great view of the city, and I can't wait to capture it with my camera.

As I sit here writing, I can't help but feel a little sad that our trip is coming to an end. But I know that the memories we've made here in Chefchaouen will stay with me for a lifetime. And who knows, maybe Sophie and I will come back one day and explore this blue city together.
