Getting There

  • Walking

    Start from the city center of Gjirokastër, specifically at the Gjirokastër Castle. Exit the castle grounds and head down to the main road, Rruga Ismail Qemali. Walk downhill for approximately 10 minutes until you reach the intersection with Rruga 28 Nëntori. Turn left onto Rruga 28 Nëntori and continue walking straight for about 15 minutes. You will pass by several local shops and cafes along the way. After reaching the end of Rruga 28 Nëntori, turn right onto Rruga Vangjel Zako. Continue on this road as it bends and rises slightly. The Ruins of the Meçite will be on your left, marked by a small path leading up to the site. Follow the path to reach the ruins.

    If you have rented a bicycle in Gjirokastër, start from the main square at Rruga 28 Nëntori. Cycle down Rruga Ismail Qemali towards the southern end of the city.
