Gamti Mountain: A Hiker's Paradise

Gamti Mountain stands as a majestic natural wonder in the heart of Albania, captivating visitors with its stunning landscapes and rich biodiversity. This hiking area, located near Kruje, offers various trails that cater to both novice hikers and seasoned adventurers. The hike to Gamti Mountain is considered moderate, with rocky terrain and some steep inclines. The total hiking distance is approximately 6-8 kilometers (3.7-5 miles), with an elevation gain of around 300 meters (980 feet). The average hiking time is around 1.5 hours to the summit. Hikers are rewarded with 360° views from the top. On a clear day, you can see Lake Bovilla to the east, Mount Dajti to the south, and the Adriatic coast to the west. Gamti Mountain is hike-able year-round, except for the hot months of July and August when local temperatures can reach 40 degrees Celsius. It is recommended to bring hiking shoes, a wind jacket, sunscreen, a hat, and hiking poles. Also, bring a picnic lunch, snacks, and plenty of water. Swimming, littering, and kayaking are forbidden in Bovilla Lake, as it is a protected area.
