The Holocaust Memorial in Tirana is a moving tribute to the Jewish people who found refuge in Albania during World War II and to the Albanian people who risked their lives to protect them. Located in the serene Grand Park (Parku i Madh) near Mother Teresa Square, the memorial provides a space for reflection on the horrors of the Holocaust and the extraordinary acts of courage and humanity displayed by the Albanian people. The memorial, inaugurated in 2020, features stone slabs with inscriptions in Albanian, English, and Hebrew, commemorating the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and honoring the Albanian citizens who selflessly protected Jews. Visiting the memorial offers a chance to contemplate the past and appreciate the beauty of the surrounding park. It serves as a reminder of Albania's unique and inspiring legacy of humanity, courage, and honor during one of history's darkest periods.
