Public Transport
From Tirana, buses to Berat depart from the South and North Bus Terminal. A one-way ticket costs approximately 500 Lek (€4.40). The journey takes around 2.5 hours. From the Berat Bus Terminal, you can take a local city bus to the city center for a cost of approximately 30 Lek. The local bus runs every 20 minutes and the journey takes 15 minutes.
Taxi
Taxis are available in Berat, with a taxi stand located in 'Iljaz Vrioni' Square. A short taxi ride within the city, such as from the bus terminal to Berat Castle, typically costs around 1800 ALL (€15) for a 5km ride. Metered taxis are available, but it's always a good idea to confirm the fare before starting your journey.
Walking
Once you are in the city center, exploring Berat's main attractions, such as the Mangalem quarter, Gorica Bridge and the Boulevard, is easily done on foot. However, the walk up to Berat Castle is steep and takes about 30 minutes. Ensure you have appropriate footwear.
