Discover more about Església de Santa Eulàlia | Encamp

Located in the town of Encamp, the Església de Santa Eulàlia is a captivating blend of Romanesque origins and later architectural influences. The church's history stretches back to the 11th and 12th centuries, with expansions and modifications occurring in the 17th and 20th centuries. The most striking feature is the Lombard-style bell tower, rising 23 meters and making it the tallest in Andorra. Built in the second half of the 11th century, the tower has a slight lean, reminiscent of Italy's Leaning Tower of Pisa. The original Romanesque apse was unfortunately destroyed in 1924. However, the church retains a 14th-century porch, considered the oldest in Andorra. Inside, visitors can admire a Romanesque baptismal font adorned with arches and fleurs-de-lis, as well as three Baroque altarpieces from the 17th and 18th centuries. Modern stained-glass windows by Agustí Ríos, an artist from Encamp, add a contemporary touch. Adjoining the church is the Holy Art Museum, which displays liturgical objects, including a Romanesque wrought iron candelabra and a 14th-century bronze thurible. Also of interest is the 'comunidor', a small building used for ceremonies to ward off storms.
