Driving
Montségur Castle is located off the D9 in the Ariège department. From Toulouse, it's approximately a 90-minute drive south. The nearest town is Lavelanet, about 12 kilometers away. Follow the D9 to a parking area at the base of the pog, just below the castle. Parking is free. From the parking area, it's a 35-minute walk up a steep mountain path to reach the castle.

Public Transport
While public transportation to Montségur is limited, you can take the train or bus to nearby towns like Foix or Lavelanet. From Lavelanet, you can take the 450 liO bus towards Montségur. Get off near the village and walk ~1.5km to the foot of the castle. From the parking area, it's a 35-minute walk up a steep mountain path to reach the castle. Bus fare from Lavelanet to Montsegur is approximately €2.

From the village of Montségur, follow the road towards the castle. After about 1.5km, you'll reach the parking area at the base of the pog. From there, a steep, rocky path leads up to the castle entrance. The walk takes approximately 35 minutes. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring water.
