The name 'Tundavala' comes from the Nyaneka language, meaning 'what is open/apart' or 'the aperture'. Rising to over 2,200 meters (7,200 ft), the rim of Tundavala Gap offers an awe-inspiring panorama, with a sheer drop of about 1,000 meters (3,300 ft) to the plains below. The viewpoint overlooks an expansive 10,000 square kilometers (3,900 sq mi) stretching towards Moçâmedes in the Namibe Province.
