Discover more about Copper & Lumber Store Hotel

The Copper & Lumber Store Hotel, originally built in 1789, stands as a testament to Antigua's rich maritime history. Constructed to store copper sheets and lumber for repairing British Royal Navy ships, the building played a vital role in maintaining the fleet that patrolled the Caribbean. The copper sheets were used to protect the wooden hulls of warships from marine growth, increasing their lifespan and speed. After the Royal Navy abandoned English Harbour in the 1890s, the building fell into disrepair. However, in the 1960s, it was extensively renovated and transformed into a boutique hotel, preserving its original Georgian architecture. Today, the hotel features 14 unique suites, each named after ships led by Lord Nelson in the Battle of Trafalgar, and furnished with period decor. Staying at the Copper & Lumber Store Hotel offers a unique opportunity to step back in time while enjoying modern amenities. Guests can explore the surrounding Nelson's Dockyard, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its restored naval buildings, museums, shops, and restaurants. The hotel also provides easy access to nearby beaches like Pigeon Point and Galleon Beach.
