From the north end of Avenida San Martin in El Chaltén, follow the clearly marked 'Sendero al Fitz Roy' trail. The first 3km are a steep uphill climb through the forest. After about 1.5 hours, you'll reach a marked intersection where the trail splits. Take the right path to Mirador Fitz Roy. Continue along the path until you reach the viewpoint. The total hike to the viewpoint is approximately 9km and takes about 3 hours each way. No entrance fee is required for the Los Glaciares National Park.
