Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from San Martín de los Andes, head east on Route 40 (RN40). The journey is approximately 110 km and takes about 2 hours. Follow the signs for Ruta 40. Along the way, you'll enjoy stunning views of the lakes and mountains. Make sure to stop at the various viewpoints and parks along the way, as there are limited opportunities once you are on the main route. Ensure your vehicle is fueled up, as there are few gas stations along the route.

• Bus

  For those using public transportation, take a bus from San Martín de los Andes to Neuquén city. The bus ride takes around 5 hours. Once in Neuquén, switch to a bus heading to the town of El Bolsón or further along Route 40. Depending on the bus schedule, this could take an additional 3-4 hours. Be sure to check with local bus companies like Via Bariloche or Andesmar for the most current schedules and prices. Note that bus services may have fewer options during the off-peak season.

• Taxi or Ride-sharing

  If you prefer a more direct route and have a budget that allows for it, consider booking a taxi or a ride-sharing service from your current location in Northern Patagonia to Ruta 40 - Camino 7 Lagos.
