Discover more about Ente Autarquico Llao Llao

Ente Autárquico Llao Llao is a municipal park that stands as a testament to the natural beauty and rich history of the Bariloche region. This over 1200-hectare park is a protected area that encompasses a variety of attractions, including Bahía López, Bahía de los Troncos, and Playa Tacul, as well as trails like Bosque de Arrayanes and Lago Moreno. The park's history stretches back over 10,000 years, with evidence of early hunter-gatherer groups inhabiting the area. In the 18th century, Jesuit missionaries established a settlement near Puerto Pañuelo, followed by Mapuche communities in the 19th century. Today, visitors can explore the Tacul-Cheuque community, which has reclaimed part of its ancestral land within the park. The park boasts a diverse array of native flora and fauna, including a mixed temperate forest of coihue and cypress trees. Smaller trees like laura, radal, and maitén can also be found, along with arrayán and patagua in wetter areas. Birdwatchers can spot species such as the chucao, huet huet, and common buzzard, as well as the impressive Magellanic woodpecker, pitío, and even condors. The elusive monito del monte, a nocturnal marsupial, and the huillín, a type of otter, also inhabit the park. Visitors can explore several well-maintained trails, including those leading to Cerro Llao Llao, Lago Escondido, and the Arrayanes forest. These trails offer panoramic views of the surrounding lakes and mountains. The park also provides areas for picnicking and enjoying the scenery, such as Bahía López, Bahía de los Troncos and Playa Tacul. To ensure the preservation of this natural and cultural heritage, the Ente Autárquico Administrador y Científico-Técnico del Parque Municipal Llao Llao was created in 2003. This organization is responsible for planning and executing the park's management plan, with a focus on conservation and sustainable development.
