Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start in Ushuaia. Drive along Av. San Martín towards Av. Maipú and continue until you reach the junction with Ruta 3. Follow Ruta 3 north for about 3.5 kilometers. Look for signs indicating Martial Glacier (Glaciar Martial) on your left. Turn onto the gravel road leading to the base of the glacier. There is a parking area where you can leave your car. Please note that there may be a parking fee, which is typically around 200 ARS (Argentine Pesos). From the parking area, you can choose to hike up to the glacier or take a chairlift (if operational).

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transport, you can take a local bus from Ushuaia to the Martial Glacier. Buses labeled 'Glaciar Martial' depart from the main bus terminal in Ushuaia. The fare is approximately 250 ARS one way. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the base, you'll find signs directing you to the hiking trail leading to the glacier. Please check the bus schedule beforehand, as services may vary, especially during off-peak seasons.

• Hiking

  If you prefer a more adventurous route and are already in the vicinity, you can hike directly to Martial Glacier from the base. The hike is moderate to strenuous, covering around 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) one way. The trail begins at the end of the road and is well-marked. Be prepared for steep sections and variable weather conditions. Bring appropriate footwear and water. The hike can take about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace.
