    From Puerto Natales, take a bus to Torres del Paine National Park. Most buses depart in the morning from the bus terminal. Request a drop-off at the Laguna Amarga entrance. From there, you can walk approximately 3 km to Refugio Laguna Amarga, or arrange a shuttle. Bus fare from Puerto Natales to Laguna Amarga is approximately $11 USD. A shuttle from the Laguna Amarga entrance to the Refugio costs around $4 USD.

    If driving from Puerto Natales, take Route 9 to the park. Continue to the Laguna Amarga entrance, approximately 2 hours from Puerto Natales. From the entrance, drive towards Kilómetro 118, following signs for Refugio Laguna Amarga. The refugio will be on your right. Park entrance fee is approximately $50 USD per person. Ensure you have cash or a credit card for the entrance fee.

Located just 2 kilometers from the Laguna Amarga entrance, the refugio offers stunning panoramic views of the iconic Paine Massif on one side and the emerald waters of Laguna Amarga on the other. The refugio features a cozy, café-style restaurant with a traditional 'quincho' grill, serving hearty Chilean cuisine. The main building is an old farmhouse with ten private bedrooms, while an outbuilding offers seven bunk bedrooms with shared facilities. While simple, the refugio provides essential amenities such as central heating and electricity from 6 am to midnight. Note that GSM signal and internet access are not available. Originally a sheep ranch, the area around Laguna Amarga has transitioned towards conservation and tourism. The refugio is well-positioned for those interested in wildlife observation, particularly puma sightings. It offers a quieter experience away from the park's main trekking routes.
