Public Bus
To reach Bear Mountain, you can take the public bus from downtown Flagstaff. Start by walking to the Flagstaff Transit Center located at 215 E Route 66. From the Transit Center, catch the bus on Route 10 towards the East. Stay on the bus for about 15-20 minutes, and get off at the stop near the intersection of E Butler Ave and N Fort Valley Rd. From there, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles heading northwest to reach the trailhead for Bear Mountain. Follow the signs along the trail until you reach the peak.
Bicycle Rental
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the local shops in downtown Flagstaff, like 'Absolute Bikes' on E Route 66. Once you have your bike, head north on N Beaver St and then take a left onto E Butler Ave. Continue straight until you reach Fort Valley Rd. Turn right, and bike approximately 1.5 miles to the Bear Mountain trailhead. Make sure to lock your bike securely at the trailhead.
Walking
For the adventurous, you can walk to Bear Mountain from downtown Flagstaff. Start at the Flagstaff City Hall located at 211 W Aspen Ave. Walk north on N San Francisco St until you reach E Butler Ave. Turn left and continue walking for about 2 miles. Once you reach Fort Valley Rd, turn right and walk for another half mile to the Bear Mountain trailhead. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes and carry enough water for the hike.
