Car
If you are traveling by car from the Grand Canyon Village, head east on AZ-64 for approximately 25 miles. Continue on AZ-64 until you reach the junction with I-40. Take the exit onto I-40 E towards Albuquerque. Drive for about 10 miles and take exit 204 for Walnut Canyon Road. Follow Walnut Canyon Road for about 7 miles, and you will see the entrance to Walnut Canyon National Monument on your left. Be aware that there is a parking fee of $5 per vehicle.
Public Transportation
Take a shuttle bus from the Grand Canyon Village to the nearest major town, Flagstaff. The shuttle operates seasonally and may require advance booking. Once in Flagstaff, you can take the local Mountain Line bus (Route 2) towards the East Side of Flagstaff. Get off at the Walnut Canyon stop. From there, the monument is about a 2-mile walk. Make sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time as services may vary.
Bicycle
For the adventurous, consider biking from Grand Canyon Village. Take AZ-64 heading east, then connect to I-40 E via a bike-friendly path. It’s about a 38-mile ride to Walnut Canyon National Monument, which offers stunning views along the way. Be prepared for a challenging ride, and ensure you have proper biking gear. Note that there may not be dedicated bike lanes on all sections, so ride with caution.
