Rincon Mountain Visitor Center, Pima County Travel Guide

The Rincon Mountain Visitor Center is the primary access point for the Rincon Mountain District (Saguaro East) of Saguaro National Park. Here, you can gather essential information, explore exhibits about the Sonoran Desert, and obtain permits. The visitor center marks the beginning of the Cactus Forest Loop Drive, a paved scenic route with numerous pullouts for viewing the majestic saguaros and surrounding landscapes. Inside, a bookstore operated by the Western National Parks Association offers a variety of books, maps, and souvenirs. Rangers are available to answer questions, provide hiking recommendations, and offer insights into the park's natural and cultural history. A short film, 'Voices of the Desert,' provides a Native American perspective on the Sonoran Desert.Outside the visitor center, discover an exhibit showcasing about 15 major plants of the Sonoran Desert, each with a descriptive plaque. Several hiking trails, including the Freeman Homestead Trail, are easily accessible from the visitor center and loop drive. The visitor center provides access to over 128 miles of trails.The Rincon Mountain District offers a different experience from the Tucson Mountain District (Saguaro West), with higher elevations and the chance to see wildlife such as bears and cougars.
