From Patagonia, Arizona, head south on AZ-82 W/Duquesne Rd for approximately 4 miles. Turn right onto Patagonia Lake Road and continue for another 4 miles. The entrance to Patagonia Lake State Park, where you can obtain permits for Sonoita Creek State Natural Area, will be on your right. The entrance fee to Patagonia Lake State Park, which includes access to Sonoita Creek State Natural Area, is typically $15 per vehicle (1-4 adults). Additional adults are $3 per person.

Walking
From the town of Patagonia, it is possible to hike to Sonoita Creek State Natural Area, though it is a considerable distance. Follow Duquesne Road/Highway 82 west out of town. After approximately 4 miles, turn right onto Patagonia Lake Road and walk another 4 miles to reach the Patagonia Lake State Park entrance. Remember that there are no pedestrian-specific paths along these roads, so exercise caution. There are no costs associated with walking, but you will still need to acquire the necessary permits at the visitor center to access the trails within the natural area.
