Discover more about Magnetic Spring

Magnetic Spring, a historical landmark in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, invites visitors to experience a tranquil oasis steeped in local lore. The spring is rumored to possess magnetic properties, with tales of metal objects becoming magnetized when immersed in its waters. This phenomenon, coupled with the spring's supposed healing capabilities, contributed to Eureka Springs' reputation as a health and wellness destination in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Originally owned by General Powell Clayton and the Eureka Springs Improvement Company, Magnetic Spring was gifted to the city in 1911. A large wooden pavilion once stood over the spring, serving as a gathering place for visitors and the Tourist Social Hour Club from 1885 to 1935. Today, a shelter and picnic tables offer a relaxing spot for reflection and appreciation of the surrounding Ozark Mountain scenery. Located a short distance from downtown Eureka Springs and connected to The Great Passion Play's trail system, Magnetic Spring is easily accessible and provides a serene escape into nature. While the spring's water is no longer recommended for drinking due to pollution, its historical significance and peaceful atmosphere continue to draw tourists seeking a connection to Eureka Springs' past.
