Getting There

    From the center of Alaverdi, head towards the main square (located at V8CQ+M9R). Start walking northeast on the main road (also known as Tigran Mets street) for about 1.5 kilometers. Along the way, enjoy the local shops and cafes. Once you reach the intersection, turn left onto the road leading to the village of Artabuynk. Continue straight for approximately 3 kilometers. As you approach Artabuynk, you will see signs pointing towards Smbataberd. Follow these signs, and after about another 1 kilometer, you will reach the fortress entrance.

    From the Alaverdi bus station, take a local minibus (marshrutka) heading towards Artabuynk. The ride will take about 20 minutes. Inform the driver that you are going to Smbataberd, and they will drop you off at the closest stop. After you get off, walk about 1 kilometer following the signs pointing towards Smbataberd. The walk will be through scenic landscapes, so enjoy the views as you approach the fortress.
