Established in 1980, the sanctuary was originally created from a wastewater treatment facility, which now provides a lush habitat for over 80 species of birds, including herons, egrets, gulls, skimmers, coots, and ducks.The sanctuary features interconnected man-made ponds and an observation tower, offering visitors a unique opportunity to observe birds in their natural environment. The tower provides a bird's-eye view of the sanctuary, allowing birdwatchers to witness the beauty of migratory birds seeking refuge in the lush vegetation. The surrounding desert scrub vegetation also provides habitat for nesting species like white-tailed nightjars, yellow warblers, and burrowing owls.While the sanctuary doesn't have specific opening hours, it's best to visit early in the morning or late afternoon when the birds are most active.     Walking

    From the high-rise hotel area in Palm Beach, the Bubali Bird Sanctuary is within walking distance. Head west towards the Old Dutch Windmill; the sanctuary is located just in front of it. There are no entrance fees or special access requirements.

    Public Transport

    To reach the Bubali Bird Sanctuary via public transportation, take the local Arubus bus from the Noord bus terminal towards Palm Beach. Ask the driver to drop you off near the Aruba Aloe Factory. Walk back about 200 meters along L.G. Smith Boulevard, and you will find the entrance to Bubali Bird Sanctuary on your right. A single bus fare is approximately $3.

    From Eagle Beach, drive north on J.E. Irausquin Blvd towards the roundabout. Take the second exit onto L.G. Smith Blvd (Route 1) heading toward Noord. Continue on L.G. Smith Blvd for about 3.5 km. Look for signs indicating Bubali Bird Sanctuary, and turn left onto Bubali Rd. The sanctuary entrance will be on your right. Parking is available nearby and is free.
