Car
To reach the Cairns Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre from Atherton Tablelands by car, start by getting onto the Gillies Highway (State Route 25). Follow the Gillies Highway for approximately 25 km until you reach the intersection with the Bruce Highway (A1). Merge onto the Bruce Highway heading north. Continue for about 12 km, then take the exit towards Cairns. Follow the signs for Cairns and turn onto Mulgrave Road (State Route 91). Continue on Mulgrave Road until you reach the intersection with Collins Avenue. Turn left onto Collins Avenue. You will find the Cairns Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre at 64 Collins Ave, Edge Hill. There is parking available near the visitor centre.

Public Transport
If you prefer public transport, you can take a bus from Atherton to Cairns. Start by boarding the bus at the Atherton bus station. Look for a route serviced by Sunbus, which operates routes from Atherton to Cairns. The journey will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the Cairns Central Bus Station, transfer to another Sunbus service (Route 110 or 111) heading towards the Botanic Gardens. Disembark at the stop nearest to Collins Avenue. From there, it is a short walk to the Cairns Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre at 64 Collins Ave, Edge Hill. Be sure to check the Sunbus schedule for accurate timings and potential costs, which are generally around AUD 8-10 for the entire journey.
