Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the main town of Katoomba. Head east on the Great Western Highway (A32) and follow the signs for Wentworth Falls. After about 5 kilometers, take the exit for Falls Road. Follow Falls Road, which will eventually turn into Sir Frank Packer Drive. Continue until you reach the car park at the base of Empress Falls. Note that parking is available at the Wentworth Falls picnic area, which may incur a small fee.
Public Transport
To reach Empress Falls using public transportation, take a train from Sydney to Wentworth Falls Station. The journey takes approximately 2 hours. Once you arrive at Wentworth Falls Station, exit the station and head south on Falls Road for about 1.5 kilometers. This will lead you to the starting point of the walking track that descends to Empress Falls. The walk is about 1 kilometer and can take approximately 30-40 minutes depending on your pace. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear as the track can be steep and uneven.
Walking Track
Once you reach the walking track from Wentworth Falls, follow the signs for Empress Falls. The track will take you through beautiful bushland and may involve some steep sections. Be sure to take your time and enjoy the scenery. The total walking distance from the picnic area to the falls is about 1 kilometer, and it can take roughly 30-40 minutes to hike down.
