Discover more about Jamison Lookout

Jamison Lookout, a popular vantage point in the Blue Mountains National Park, provides breathtaking views over the Jamison Valley and beyond. Located a short walk from the Wentworth Falls Picnic Area, it's an easily accessible spot to soak in the grandeur of the Australian wilderness. The lookout is named after Sir John Jamison, who visited the Blue Mountains with Governor Lachlan Macquarie in 1815. The valley itself, carved over millennia, is primarily made of sandstone, characterized by steep cliffs and eucalyptus forests. The traditional custodians of this land are the Aboriginal Gundungurra people, who are believed to have inhabited the area for over 40,000 years. From the fenced lookout, you can see landmarks such as Lincoln's Rock, Mount Solitary, the Narrow Neck Plateau, the Ruined Castle, and Sublime Point. While Jamison Lookout doesn't offer a direct view of Wentworth Falls, it serves as an excellent starting point for exploring other nearby lookouts and walking tracks that do. The Wentworth Falls area is known for its spectacular bushwalks and views, making it a must-see destination in the Blue Mountains.
