Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Byron Bay town center, head east on Jonson Street towards the beach. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Lighthouse Road. Turn right onto Lighthouse Road and follow it until you reach the Cape Byron Lighthouse. From the lighthouse, head back down Lighthouse Road, and continue walking until you reach the intersection with Skinners Shoot Road. Turn left onto Skinners Shoot Road and follow it for about 1 kilometer. Cumbebin Swamp Nature Reserve will be on your right side.

  • Bicycle

    Start at Byron Bay's Main Beach. Head north along the beachfront path until you reach the Byron Bay Surf Club. From there, take the path leading onto Bay Street and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Jonson Street. Turn left onto Jonson Street and follow it until you reach the intersection with Lighthouse Road. Turn right onto Lighthouse Road and ride up towards the Cape Byron Lighthouse. After visiting the lighthouse, retrace your route back down Lighthouse Road and turn left onto Skinners Shoot Road. Ride along Skinners Shoot Road for approximately 1 kilometer to reach Cumbebin Swamp Nature Reserve, which will be on your right.

    From Byron Bay town center, walk to the nearest bus stop for local services. You can catch a bus towards Mullumbimby and ask the driver to drop you off at the Skinners Shoot Road stop. Once you get off, walk along Skinners Shoot Road for about 500 meters, and Cumbebin Swamp Nature Reserve will be on your left.
