From Cairns City, take the Sunbus route 131. The bus stops directly outside the Flecker Gardens on Collins Avenue. The journey takes approximately 6 minutes and departs hourly. A one-way ticket costs $1 - $2.

From the Cairns Tourist Information Centre on Abbott Street, the gardens are approximately a 45-minute walk (4 km). Follow the well-paved footpath north. Note that this is an uncovered walk, so bring water and sun protection.

A taxi or rideshare from Cairns City to the Botanic Gardens takes about 5-10 minutes. Expect to pay around $15 - $18. There are taxi ranks throughout the city center.

The gardens' history dates back to the mid-1880s with Eugene Fitzalan's Edge Hill Nursery.
