From the Cairns Tourist Information Centre on Abbott Street, the gardens are approximately a 45-minute walk (4 km). Follow the well-paved footpath north. Note that this is an uncovered walk, so bring water and sun protection.

A taxi or rideshare from Cairns City to the Botanic Gardens takes about 5-10 minutes. Expect to pay around $15 - $18. There are taxi ranks throughout the city center.
Driving
From Cairns City, drive northwest on Sheridan Street, then turn onto Collins Avenue. The gardens are about a 10-minute drive. There is ample free street parking available along Collins Avenue and Greenslopes Street.
