Car
From Bathurst, take the Great Western Highway (A32) towards Cowra. After approximately 30 kilometers, take the exit towards Carcoar on the B64. Follow the signs to Carcoar, which will be about another 25 kilometers. Once you reach Carcoar, follow Carcoar Dam Road directly to the dam. The entire trip will take around 50 minutes, covering approximately 55 kilometers. There are no tolls on this route.
Public Transportation
Catch a bus from Bathurst to Cowra. Several services operate this route daily, with the journey taking approximately 45 minutes. Once in Cowra, you will need to arrange a taxi or rideshare service to take you to Carcoar Dam, which is about 20 kilometers away. Be prepared for a taxi fare which may cost between $30 to $50 AUD depending on the provider. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance to coordinate your trip.
Walking/Biking (from Carcoar)
If you are already in Carcoar, you can walk or bike to Carcoar Dam. The dam is about 8 kilometers from the town center. Take Carcoar Dam Road heading southeast. The walk or ride offers scenic views of the countryside and takes roughly 1.5 to 2 hours. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially on warm days.
