The Hallett Cove Boardwalk, also known as the Marion Coastal Walking Trail, is a captivating 5.1km coastal walk that winds along the rugged cliffs between Marino and Hallett Cove. This well-maintained boardwalk offers a unique environment, showcasing Adelaide's stunning coastline with its rocky reef platforms and small coves. The boardwalk is part of the State Government's Coast Park initiative, a 71-kilometer recreational trail stretching from Sellicks Beach to North Haven. It provides access to otherwise inaccessible parts of the coastline, balancing recreational use with the conservation of the delicate coastal environment. Hallett Cove is not only beautiful but also one of Australia's most geologically significant sites. The area reveals evidence of an ice age from about 280 million years ago. Explore the Sugarloaf and Amphitheatre, geological wonders exposing layers of rock developed over millions of years. Interpretive signs along the trails share the geological, Aboriginal, and European stories of the area. For countless generations, the Aboriginal peoples have been the custodians of this land. Aboriginal stone implements were discovered here in 1934, with over 1700 artifacts now held in the South Australian Museum. In early August 2024, two new suspension bridges opened, crossing Grey Gully and Kurnabinna Gully, enhancing the walking experience. The trail includes boardwalk, steps, and pathways, offering a good workout with rewarding views.
