Reaching an elevation of 679 meters, the lookout is the culmination of the Arkapena 4WD Scenic Adventure, a journey through the rugged and spectacular scenery of the region. The track to Arkapena Lookout follows old mustering and fire trails on the 12,000-hectare Arkapena Station, located south and east of Wilpena Pound. The drive begins with gentle slopes of dodonea bushland, native pine forests, and red gum creeks, nestled in the foothills of the Chace Range.
